First Day:              10.00 am to 5 p.m.

Theory:

Various requirements for Studio Model Shoot such as dimension of studio, interior painting, cameras, use of lenses with specific focal lengths on 35mm & DSLR cameras, films and ISO settings on DSLR, filters, studio flash lights and their specific power requirements, various brands of studio flashes, various attachments such as umbrellas, soft boxes, reflectors, spot/honeycomb grids, snoots etc. Flash Meter and how to take exposure readings,    

Theory of lighting, Light sources and their characteristics, soft and harsh lighting, effect of different lighting angles, terminology of studio lighting such as Main/key light, fill-light, cut/back/hair light, lighting backgrounds, controlling tonal quality of backgrounds, different lighting setups such as Split lighting, Rembrandt Lighting, Short or Narrow Lighting, Conventional Model Lighting, Broad Lighting, Butter Fly Lighting, Clamshell lighting, Fashion and Glamour Lighting, Halo Lighting, Lighting for Full lengths and Groups. Inverse Square Law of light and its applications in lighting set ups explained in detail, Lighting Ratios, Calibrations on Flash Meter etc.

Whole day practical session with a model shoot

Second Day:          8.00 a.m. to 5 p.m.

                         Practical session Outdoors:

Shooting a model under direct sunlight, frontal lighting, side lighting, back lighting, use of reflectors and flash to fill the shadows, creating soft light under direct harsh sunlight using diffuser, importance of focal length and aperture size to get a blurred background to create amazing portraits outdoors, achieving correct exposure using camera’s internal exposure meter and Gray Card Reading, Incident light metering with Minolta exposure meter.

                        Theory on Digital Camera Operations and Custom WB settings

Principles of digital imaging, meaning of 35mm equivalent focal lengths used on DSLR, important Menu Settings such as ISO setting and resulting Noise, 1/3, & ½ EV steps explained in details, Auto Focus Modes, Metering Modes, AE Lock, AF Lock, Exposure Compensation, Exposure Bracketing, Optimizing Image and Picture Styles, setting appropriate contrast, saturation, sharpness and colour tone, Noise Reduction, Image Quality and size, JPEG and RAW files, various Custom Menus, Judging exposure by Histogram etc,Importance of setting correct White Balance, Auto WB, Manual Preset WB, Custom WB explained in details, Application of Gray Card and a thermo cole sheet in setting WB, how to set correct WB in a studio lighting set-up etc.

Third Day:            10.00 am to 6.00 pm

Indoor studio shoot with a professional model, make-up artist, hair stylist inside an A/C studio. Setting Custom White Balance for studio flash lighting. Using Minolta Meter for measurement of light. Execution of different lighting set-ups as discussed in theory. Participants will shoot models in 10 to 15 different lighting set-ups using their own cameras. (see the pictures in the Gallery)

Fourth Day:            Advance Photoshop Techniques

Improving and enhancing an image, finishing and retouching, correcting colour balance if the need be, using advance Photoshop CS2 & CS3 techniques. RAW file processing etc. (Mr. Vishal Bhende, the only authorised Photoshop trainer appointed by Adobe Company in India will conduct this session)
